Your Data Is Yours
Effective Date: June 30, 2026 Last Updated: June 30, 2026
Appraisers built their value on judgment and local expertise. Too many software tools quietly harvest that work to train the automated valuation models meant to replace them. Appraveo's commitment is the opposite, and we enforce it in our product — not just our marketing.
1. We never train AI models on your data
We do not train, fine-tune, or build any automated valuation model (AVM) or machine-learning model on your appraisal reports, narratives, comps, fees, or any content you put into Appraveo. Full stop.
The AI features in Appraveo (for example, NarrativeAI drafting and Check's quality review) call established third-party AI providers to generate or analyze text at the moment you ask — they do not learn from your work between sessions. Each request is independent; the system does not "remember" your prior reports to fold them into a shared model.
2. No PII leaves to AI providers un-redacted
Before any text is sent to a third-party AI provider, Appraveo automatically redacts common personal identifiers — Social Security numbers, loan and case numbers, borrower/owner/buyer names, email addresses, and phone numbers — replacing them with neutral placeholders. The provider sees the appraisal substance, not the people.
3. Our AI providers don't train on it either
The third-party AI providers we use (our "AI subprocessors," currently OpenAI and Anthropic) operate under commercial terms in which API data is not used to train their models. We additionally:
- set the no-storage option on requests so prompts and outputs are not retained in the provider's logs; and
- operate under zero-data-retention terms at the account level.
If we ever change AI subprocessors, we will keep equivalent no-training, no-retention terms in place.
4. Community insights are opt-in and anonymous
Appraveo Intel can show how your fees and turn times compare to the market. Your data is included in those community benchmarks only if you opt in — it is off by default, and you can withdraw at any time. When included, figures are aggregated and only shown when enough appraisers contribute that no individual can be identified.
5. Product improvements use opt-in, anonymized signals — never your content
To make tools like NarrativeAI write better, we look at aggregate, de-identified signals — for example, how often a draft is used as-is versus edited — and only for users who opt in to product improvement. We never train a model on your content, and we never expose one appraiser's work to another. The base AI models improve because the AI vendors release better models and because we refine our own templates and prompts — not because we mined your files.
6. We never sell your data, and it is never used against you
We do not sell your personal information or your appraisal content, and we never will. Two structural commitments back that up:
- Nothing you create in Appraveo is ever sold or shared, and no one who orders from you sees beyond their own orders with you. Your comps, work files, narratives, and check history are never provided to lenders, AMCs, or any reviewing party. Where a client you work with sees performance metrics, those metrics are computed solely from that client's own orders with you — nothing from one client relationship ever informs another, and no one sees a combined score across your business.
- A hard wall between your workspace and anyone else's. If Appraveo ever offers products to lenders or AMCs, those products will never see, use, or learn from your work product without your explicit consent. Your data is never inventory for someone else's product.
7. Export and delete — anytime
Your data is portable and erasable on demand:
- Export: download a complete copy of your Appraveo data (your profile and every generation, custom prompt, and workfile) as a single file.
- Delete: permanently erase your Appraveo content whenever you choose.
